Elkhorn Hills UMC is participating in the Western Douglas County Chamber of Commerce Food Basket Drive during the month of November. You may pick up a brown bag in the grocery cart on your way out, fill it up and return it the following week. Click on the link to learn more.
Again this year the Mission Committee is asking for non-perishable food donations. The collected food will be assembled into food baskets and delivered to the less fortunate families in Western Douglas County in December.
This very worthwhile endeavor provides a holiday meal for over 500 families in Elkhorn, Valley and Waterloo. From now until the start of advent bring your food items to help us “bury the altar”. Cash is always welcome, too!
Help us help others.
About the WDCCC Food Basket Program
Each December the Western Douglas County Chamber of Commerce (WDCCC; www.wdccc.org) holds its Food Basket Program. This is a yearly initiative during the holidays to benefit those in need in communities within the Elkhorn, Bennington, Waterloo and Valley area.
Food is collected from all area schools, businesses and churches. Cash donations were also made to the program that helped to purchase turkey, ham, dressing, potatoes and gravy for every basket as well. Volunteers help sort and package the food for the various families, then deliver the baskets to the recipients.
