The Elkhorn Hills UMC Knit & Sew Group hosted an enjoyable morning of training for needlework beginners on Friday, July 21st at 9:30 am. The ladies involved in the group worked to teach basic knit and crochet stitches to anyone who want to learn. Supplies of yarn and needles were provided, along with delicious treats, too!
The goal was for each person to create an 8″ square, and later the squares will be joined with others to make a blanket. As one of the beginners who attended, that didn’t happen. Although, it still might. The training received was fun and enjoyable, and I just might get an 8″ square by the end of the summer. Some of us did take yarn and needles home to practice. 🙂
Dianne Ruppe, Marion Brown, and Jan Heliker were excellent teachers and had a nice supply of squares as examples for us.
Other members of the Knit & Sew Group were working on the “Warm Up Omaha” blankets and hats, prayer shawls, baby blankets, preparation for garage sale items, and other projects.
The Knit & Sew Group is comprised of women from our church who enjoy fun fellowship, working together, and creating items that will serve others. The Knit & Sew Group exemplifies our Elkhorn Hills UMC mission of “Sharing our Love of Jesus Christ by Serving Others.”
