Congratulations to Travis Bond! Travis, a member of Elkhorn Hills UMC, is one of the 2014 Ten Outstanding Young Omaha (TOYO) Teens. The program recognizes students, ages 13-19 who have made significant contributions to the Omaha metro area through volunteerism and community action. They were recognized at the TOYO awards ceremony on May 4 at the Alegent Creighton Health Amphitheatre at Village Pointe. They received $100 from the Omaha Jaycees and gift bags from Village Pointe merchants.
Travis is the youngest of the 10 teens to receive the 2014 award. He was recognized for being an active member in Boy Scout Troop 91. His Eagle Scout project was building a picnic shelter at Elkhorn Hills United Methodist Church for outside classes and services. Travis is also a member of the Zoo Crew at the Omaha Henry Doorly Zoo. He is supported in his volunteer efforts by his parents, Steve and Denise Bond. The 10 teens participated in a volunteer project on Sunday, April 27, at the Omaha Kroc Center, meeting one another as they made fleece blankets for adolescent girls at Children’s Hospital.
