The 2015 Elkhorn Hills UMC Outdoor Service opened, appropriately, with the song “This is the Day.” The Worship Team, led by Deb Eidam and Tyler Hughes, did a great job planning the service. Thanks to Greg Gale, the service was recorded so folks unable to be there can still “attend.” Look for the link coming soon.
The worship service had testimonials from three Elkhorn Hills members who each briefly spoke about their faith journey. Thanks to Pete Kaufmann, Bonnita Sherburne, and Greg Roberg for sharing their stories!
The music was (again) wonderful! The “Happy Birthday” song to birthday girl Julie Fraser was the prelude. Tried and true hymns were sung by the congregation throughout the service, with Tyler Hughes leading the singing and Deb Eidam providing the accompaniment. Special music was provided by the Youth Praise Team (Karissa Heckens, Bailey Klanderud, Lindsey Roberg, Jason Meyer, Kaleb Heckens, and Jordyn Ritnour) and the Men’s Quartet (Paul Dritley, Bryan Fraser, Brett Heckens, and Tyler Hughes).
Blessing of the Backpacks
Pastor Nancy called all the children to come forward and gave a special blessing for the school year. Preschool Director Shauna Cooper and Children’s Ministries Director Ashley Bossert provided the children with special pins for their backpacks and certificates.
Blessing of the Jamaica VIM Team
Members of the Jamaica VIM Team were called forward to talk about the upcoming trip. Both Stan Holt and Meri Hoover spoke. Members of the congregation came forward and laid hands on the team members while Pastor Nancy gave a special blessing and prayer for them and the people they will serve. The congregation is asked to pray for the team during their mission trip.
Several announcements were made, including the Garage Sale, Steve Bell’s selection as District Lay Leader, YES Meals, and Sunday School programs beginning September 13th. Please click on the link for more information.
