Our Prayer Shawl Ministry was created by a small group of dedicated women who work faithfully each month on the 2nd Friday, to create prayer shawls for people who need a little tender loving care. Each shawl symbolizes shelter, peace and spiritual sustenance.
Whether they are called Prayer Shawls, Comfort Shawls, Peace Shawls, or Mantles, etc., the shawl maker begins with prayers and blessings for the recipient. The intentions are continued throughout the creation of the shawl. Upon completion, a final blessing is offered before the shawl is sent on its way. The blessing ripples from person-to-person, with both the giver and receiver feeling the unconditional embrace of a sheltering, mothering God!
Prayer Shawls are distributed to congregational members in need, used as a gift for baptisms in the church, and are donated to Project Linus. Project Linus distributes these prayer shawls to children in need because of displacement from their homes or as a result of some other traumatic event.
Monetary donations as well as donations of yarn and supplies are always welcomed. You are also invited to help make the shawls & blankets.
