Mission Trip to Africa

Below is information from an Elkhorn Hills UMC member who is heading to Rwanda for a mission trip this summer.   Please help support Jessica.
Many of you may remember Jessica.  She graduated from Elkhorn High School and Wayne State College, and she has been living and working in Norfolk ever since.  She was a very active and inspiring youth leader by attending numerous mission trips (first as a youth, then as a chaperone), attending and teaching Sunday School, confirmation, involvement in youth events, VBS leader for many years, and regular worship attendance.  Her parents are Joe and Phyllis Zelfel; her brother and sister-in-law are Cory and Sami Zelfel.

Letter from Jessica

My name is Jessica Zelfel and I have been a part of this church since I was in 2nd grade.  I currently teach Special Education Adult Transition in Norfolk, Nebraska.

Jessica Z.

Back in March of this year, I was presented with an opportunity to apply to go to Rwanda this summer. I felt God saying “this is it” and was accepted. There will be 20 other women from across the US, going from July 4, 2017-July 14, 2017.   We will be going with Africa New Life Ministries, touring their ministries that are established and talking with the people about Christ who attend the different ministries, such as the schools, vocational programs, and churches.

I invite you into this experience with me. Please join me in prayer both for the ministries in Rwanda as well as my team.  Pray that we may be good listeners and learners. I also invite you to prayerfully consider financially supporting me on this trip.  I’m looking to raise $3,800 in gifts to Africa New Life Ministries by June 16, 2017.  Your support means a great deal!

About Africa New Life Ministries

Africa New Life exists to transform lives and communities through Preaching the Gospel of Jesus Christ and Acts of Compassion.  Click on the link to learn more about Africa New Life Ministries.
Since 2001, Africa New Life has shared the Gospel using two hands: the hand of compassion and the hand of evangelism. Our goal is to see lives transformed through meeting basic needs, to give hope for the future for those living in poverty in Rwanda, and through sharing the freedom and hope found in Christ. At the heart of our model for breaking cycles of poverty is educational sponsorship. With a high school education, or a vocational equivalent, children in Rwanda have hope for the future.
At Africa New Life, we believe that for educational sponsorship to succeed, children need a stable home, a growing faith, a community that is developing, and a healthy body. The video below demonstrates how we have seen our model play out in the lives we touch every day.
