The 2017 United Methodist Annual Conference has provided some wonderful moments for the Elkhorn Hills UMC family of Pete and Sherri Kaufmann.
At the Annual Conference opening worship service on Wednesday, June 7th, Bishop Ruben Saenz Jr., baptized three infants, including the son of Tyler and Nicole Kaufmann. Tyler recently announced that beginning July 1, he’ll be joining Lawrence First UMC as West Campus Worship Leader & Associate Pastor.
Then, on Friday evening, Tyler Kaufmann was one of 11 men and women ordained by Bishop Saenz Jr. The Bishop gave an admittedly lengthy address to his first class of ordinands during the Great Plains Annual Conference on Friday night. Bishop Ruben Saenz Jr. brought the secrets of ministry down to four words: “Love Jesus. Love People.”
In a sermon frequently punctuated with humor, Bishop Saenz Jr. told the ordinands they were entering “adventurous times” in the history of the church. Then, the Bishop ordained 11 men and women as elders, commissioned 15 provisional elders, and commissioned 1 woman as a provisional deacon.
Elkhorn Hills UMC celebrates these milestone events and echoes the many congratulatory comments the Kaufmann’s have received like this one:
What a special day!!! Congrats to Tyler and to his parents for raising such a great man!
