Joy! Unspeakable Joy!

joy unspeakable joyAmen! The Cantata service performed this morning was absolutely wonderful!   The multi-generational musical with narration, Joy! Unspeakable Joy! Celebrate the Wonder of His Birth, featured powerful new songs within an appealing framework of well-known carols and popular songs.

Congratulations to Deb Eidam and Tyler Hughes for their leadership of this special service, and congratulations to all the musicians, instrumentalists, choirs, and narrator, Bill Eidam, involved in today’s service.  The service was truly joyful–unspeakably so.  Excellent job.  Very well done!

The multi-generational performance allowed for special family participation.  There were brothers and sisters, fathers and sons, mothers and daughters, husbands and wives, mothers and sons, fathers and daughters, cousins, in-laws, sisters, brothers, and friends.

Service Musical Highlights

The Heavenly Bells began the service with a pleasing prelude.  Deb Eidam directs the Heavenly Bells; members include:  Scott Avery, Deanna Barnes, Elly Beeson, Lena Beeson, Amy Bergman, Connie Buckingham, Beth Cammack, DeAnne Fedde, Janet Holt, Lisa Hansen, Caitlyn McBeth, and Erin Ritter.

Soprano Soloist Meri Hoover performed a beautiful rendition of Gesu, Bambino during the morning offering.

The Cantata Choir opened the cantata with a breathtaking performance of Joy to the World (Unspeakable Joy).   Additional songs included:  If You Listen (Repeat the Sounding Joy), For the Joy, Sing all Ye People and the reprise of With Joy to the World (Unspeakable Joy).   The accompaniment by Deb Eidam and the musicians was superb!  The musicians included Michelle Bluford on violin, Barry Ford on trumpet, Karissa Heckens on piano, Jordyn Ritnour on drums, Gus Sheppard on tuba, Matt Sheppard on horn, and Chiyo Trauernicht on flute.

The Youth Praise Band delighted us with Light of the Stable.  Youth Praise Band is led by Brett Heckens and included Elly Beeson, Karissa Heckens, Kaleb Heckens, Bailey Klanderud, Jordyn Ritnour, and Lindsey Roberg.

The Cantata Choir and Children’s Choir teamed up The First Noel with What Child is This?  The Children’s Choir is directed by Heather McBeth and sang the first and last verses by themselves beautifully!  Children’s Choir members included Tava Bergman, Kaden Bergman, Alexandra Bossert, Madison Bossert, Lizzie Hansen, Wyatt Hansen, Ella Holtz, Allison Krschmann, Mackenzie McBeth, Isobel McBeth, Max Peterson, Sam Peterson, Brianna Robinson, Maddi Tillman, Isaac Tillman, Evie Wade, Brooke Wade, and Chloe Wilson.

The Cantata Choir and soloists Erika Kepler and Paul Dritley sounded fantastic in the upbeat Joyful, Wonderful News!

The Cantata Choir led the congregation in the enjoyable Festival of Hymns and Carols including Joyful Joyful We Adore Thee, Angels We Have Heard on High, and Hallelujah Chorus.

Joy! Unspeakable Joy! Celebrate the Wonder of His Birth was written by Dove-award winning artist Kenna Turner West with Dale Mathews, and arranged and orchestrated by Steve W. Mauldin.
