Garage Sale

Seventh Annual Garage Sale

Once again Elkhorn Hills is getting ready for the 7th annual All Church Garage Sale.  The sale days are Thursday, August 21 to Saturday, August 23.  Donations of non-furniture items will be accepted Saturday, August 9, to Sunday, August 17.  We can take furniture donations now, thanks to the storage unit at Dino’s.

A BIG THANK-YOU goes out to LuAnn Dritley and Lena Beeson.  They have led this fund-raiser for 6 years.  In that time, the church has raised over $46,000 for missions like COPE, Habitat for Humanity and youth & adult projects.  This year there is a “newby” at the helm – me.  I will be assisted by Ashley Torrey and the Missions committee.  And, of course, we will need lots of volunteers to assist with the sorting before, the sales during, and the send-off afterward.  What we don’t sell gets donated to the New Life Thrift store.

OK, and here I will get preachy.  This is such a great opportunity for us to reach out to the community!  Many families are on tight budgets and depend on garage sales for children’s clothes, furniture, etc.  Plus, we are recycling and reusing old Stuff.  I sure know that Stuff accumulates in my home!  Nancy’s sermon a few months ago reminded us how Stuff can take over our lives.  And so I would challenge each of you to get rid of the extra Stuff in your life and donate it to the garage sale.
