Sunday, August 12th will be a busy morning! As things are gearing up for another school year, we will be celebrating our youth and preparing for back to school.
Worship will be led by our youth. The message will be from the youth telling about their mission trips. The Youth Praise Team will be leading us all in uplifting worship music. Join us as we celebrate their enthusiasm in serving others and sharing the Word of God.
After worship, the Youth will have a celebration at FunPlex. See Jenny Meyer for questions or more details.
Back to School Blessings
We will also be celebrating school starting. Students are encouraged to bring their backpack and to receive a special blessing. Teachers won’t be left out, either. We will be celebrating their gifts and offering a blessing to them, as well.
A new school year can be exciting or scary–or both. We can try to make that transition easier by praying to God and giving thanks for the people in our schools. Share this back-to-school prayer from United Methodist Discipleship Ministries with your friends, family, church, and classmates to help prepare your hearts and minds for the upcoming year.
by the Rev. Marilyn E. Thornton
Bless my paper and my pen. Guide my spirit deep within.
Help me think and help me play, This whole school year, day by day.
As I move from class to class, Guide my footsteps; clear my path.
Keep my tongue to speak your words. Let your will for me be heard.
In every subject high or low, May God’s excellence be shown!
Keep me strong to reach the prize, To grow in grace, becoming wise.
Whether far from home or near, May I hold God’s precepts dear.
To do my best at every task; For this blessing, I do ask.
Help my family be a part, As I lift my mind and heart.
As I study, work, and pray, Be with them throughout the day.
Of whom much is given, much is required.
May learning be your greatest desire!
