Congratulations to the Elkhorn Hills Youth for their successful 2014 Dodgeball Tournament! This was the third year in which Elkhorn Hills United Methodist Church sponsored this tournament to raise money for the Adopt-a-Family program. The youth will be adopting several area families and sponsoring Youth Emergency Services during the Christmas season to help them with any needs that they have.
Thirteen teams from churches and schools in Elkhorn, Gretna, Omaha, Youth Emergency Services, and Columbus participated. The teams comprised 6 to 8 players with at least 2 girls per team. Participants ranged in age between 4th grade through adult. Teams from four brackets played a best-of-three “pool play” format.
The exciting championship game was between Team Hullinger of Elkhorn (a two-time tournament champion) versus Team Jolly Rodgers of Columbus, with Team Jolly Rodgers coming out the victors. Congratulations to all participants for good play and sportsmanship!
Tournament Chairs Jordyn Ritnour and John Beeson did a great job obtaining donations and prizes for the participants, organizing the brackets, and orchestrating the game play. Random prize drawings were held throughout the day.
Thanks to Elkhorn Hills UMC members for their support of this event through donations, supervision, umpiring, snacks, communication, and financial contributions. Thank you to the area businesses who donated prizes. Many thanks to Jenny Louis, the Youth Ministries Director for Elkhorn Hills UMC, for her leadership and oversight of this event. Great job!
