Volunteers in Mission (VIM)

The understanding that "we are called" and "we are sent" is at the foundation of our faith.

Putting our faith into action is at the very heart of our Christian calling and not just something that we do in our spare time. Through Volunteers In Mission, every person in the church has the oppurtunity to serve and to live their calling and their lives more faithfully. When we reach out in this way, using what God has given us in the service of others, we have "life-transforming" experiences.

Recent projects include a trip to Louisiana to help in the Katrina rebuilding and several trips to Eastern Iowa to participate in the 2008 flood clean-up.

    Habitat For Humanity

    habitat1

Habitat for Humanity was created to demonstrate the love and teachings of Jesus Christ, so it is natural that the church--Christ's body in the world--should be a primary partner in Habitat's work.

    habitat2

Churches are essential in grounding the work of Habitat in the gospel message and undergirding the ministry of Habitat in prayer. The most successful Habitat for Humanity affiliates are the ones with the strongest church support, and churches have proven to be Habitat's most reliable and long-term partners.

    N.U.M.B.

The Nebraska United Methodist BIike Ride for Hunger is a "pet project" of Elkhorn Hills, as it was founded by the Rev. Bill Ritter, a former pastor. In the past 10 years, N.U.M.B. has raised over $300,000 for various world hunger projects. Contact Regina Bergman, EHUMC's Administrative Assistant and N.U.M.B. registrar for more information.

    Pearl Center

Members of Elkhorn Hills volunteer on a weekly basis at the Pearl Center in North Omaha, a ministry of the TRI-Community United Methodist Church. Volunteers tutor the young people of the Center and participate in a variety of other activities. It is a rewarding experience for everyone involved. Contact the Church Office for information.

    C.O.P.E.

The Christian Outreach Program of Elkhorn (C.O.P.E.) is a vital part of the ministry of this congregation. Supported by all the churches of Elkhorn, C.O.P.E. is able to provide short and long term assistance to the people of our community. A food pantry, clothes rack, emergency assistance and other services are available.
